Local History Collection at the Minooka Branch
What's New? Online Local History Exhibit!! Take a virtual tour of our collection and learn more about the history of our community. AncestryPlus is now available for patrons use at both the Main Library and the Branch Library This is the library edition of the popular Ancestry.com site offering you more content. Ask at the Main Desk to get started! You can only use it at the library. Heritage Quest Online is available for home use. To get started, pick up a brochure at the library, email or give us a call. Chicago Tribune Historical Edition provides full digital content of the Chicago Tribune from 1849-1985. The Extra Edition provides the same content in a graphic format. You need to have a Three Rivers Public Library District library card to access these databases. What is it? The Local History collection is housed in the lower level of the Minooka Branch of the Three Rivers Public Library District. It contains historical information from Channahon, Minooka, Channahon Township and Aux Sable Township. What's Available?
Donations We are always looking for new information about the history of our area. Donations are gratefully accepted, but not always necessary. We will happily accept the loan of any memorabilia and will properly display and care for your property. We would be very grateful for the opportunity to photography or copy your memorabilia and return the original to you. Hours The Local History Collection has limited hours. It is open by appointment during regular library hours. More Information Because of the limited hours of the collection, the Local History Clerk would be happy to do phone or mail searches of our files. Remember to call ahead and make arrangements to use the collection.
