Getting a Library Card
A person wishing to get a Three Rivers Public Library District library card must live within the library district and provide acceptable proof of the current address. This must contain both the name of the person applying for the library card and their current street address. PO Boxes are not acceptable proof of residency. The following items are examples of acceptable proof of current address:
|
Driver's License |
Paycheck Stub |
|
State Issued ID Card |
Voter Registration Card |
|
Imprinted Check Book |
Utility Bill |
|
Credit Card Bill |
Traffic Ticket |
|
Lease Agreement |
Mortgage/Closing Papers |
Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian co-sign for their card.
The patron's library card is to be presented when materials are borrowed or other services are requested.
Replacement library cards will be issued with ID. The first replacement card is issued at no charge; subsequent replacement cards cost $2.00.
Non-Resident: Persons living in areas unserved by any library district that reside within the Minooka Community High School District may apply for a non-resident library card. Non-resident fees are equal to resident fees and are computed based on the resident tax bill. Renters pay 10% of one month's rent based on lease or current rent receipt. Non-resident cards are good for one year at any participating PrairieCat library.
Corporate Cards: A corporate library card is issued to companies based within the boundaries of the Three Rivers Public Library District. Application must be made on the company letterhead and must contain the name of the person responsible for the account and any additional eligible staff members. One card will be issued per company and valid for Local Use Only. Cards will be issued for one year in the company's name. The card must be presented each time loans are made. There is a replacement charge for a lost or damaged card. Normal library circulation rules apply.
School Cards: Teachers employed by the Channahon and Minooka school districts are entitled to use their school's account to check out library materials. School accounts allow for six week checkouts with no renewal. To use a school account, you must present a current school issued id.
Reciprocal Borrowers: Patrons from other libraries that either belong to or have a reciprocal borrowing agreement with PrairieCat may check out items from our library using their home library card.
