What's Happening in Your Community?
  • Summer Reading is going on at the Three Rivers Public Library for all ages, you can sign up at either branch!
  • Concert in the Park: July 25 at 7pm, the band Junkyard Dawgs will give a free concert at Central Park in Channahon.
  • Movie in the Park: July 26, Shrek the Third will be showing at Lakewood Trails Park in Minooka. Kid's activities will start at 6pm with the movie following at 6:30pm.
  • Touch a Truck: On August 1 from 10am-Noon in the parking lot at Skateland Recreation Center.
  • Cruise Night--Minooka: On August 2 from 4pm to 8pm starting at Mason's Auto Parts. Registration is $5 and starts at 3pm (or in advance at Mason's Auto Parts). For more information call Mason's Auto Parts at 467-9700.

Used Books and More Sale!

We have been overrun with items at the Main Library! Come check out our selection of used books, cds and videos! We have a ton of audiobooks on cassette (priced as marked), we still have music CDs for $1 each, we also have software and VHS cassettes for $1 each. Adult and YA books are $1 for a bag and we still have children's books for 15 cents each! Come on in!!

What's Happening in Your Community?
  • Summer Reading is going on at the Three Rivers Public Library for all ages, you can sign up at either branch!
  • Flick and Float: July 16 at dusk at the Tomahawk Aquatic Center in Channahon, watch the movie Surf's Up while enjoying the pool. The cost is $2.50 for park district residents/$4.50 for non-residents at the door. This event is for all ages, those under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Antique Tractor, Steam Engine and Gas Engine Show: July 17-20 at Dollinger Farms. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for kids 11 and under.

What's Happening at the Library?

  • Friday, July 11: Join us for the Three Rivers Carnival from Noon to 3pm on the lawn at the Main Library! There will be games, activities, face painting, refreshments, a bounce house and slide, Bingo and crafts!
  • Monday, July 14: Game Night at the Minooka Branch for 2nd through 5th graders from 6 to 7:30pm. Come and play your favorites, refreshments will be served.
  • Wednesday, July 16: Ms. Tracy has lapsit at 10am at the Main Library for infants and toddlers up to 3. For kids 3 to 7, join us for story time at 10:30am at the Minooka Branch and 1:30pm at the Main Library.

What's Happening in Your Community?
  • Summer Reading is going on at the Three Rivers Public Library for all ages, you can sign up at either branch!
  • Grundy County Agricultural District Fair: July 2-6 at the Grundy County Fairgrounds in Morris.
  • Independence Day Celebration: July 4 at Community Park in Channahon. The fun starts at 6pm and concludes with a fireworks display at 9:15pm, activities include a parade, ice cream giveaway, face painting, a concert and more, see site for details. This is a free event.
  • Three Rivers Library Carnival: July 11 from Noon to 3pm on the lawn at the Main Library! Games, prizes, refreshments, activities, face painting, a Bounce House and more!
  • Kids' Garage Sale: July 12 from 9am-Noon. Kids from 1st to 8th grade are eligible to sell their merchandise at this event, registration deadline is July 10, there is a charge for a booth. The sale is open to the public for free.
  • Minooka Garden Walk: July 13 from 1pm to 5pm, six beautiful gardens in the Minooka/Channahon area will be showcased. Tickets are $10. For more information call 815-467-6331.

Independence Day Events

Remember we are closed on Friday, July 4. We will be open on July 5 during our normal summer hours 10am-3pm. Here's a listing of community events and where you can see fireworks!

  • Independence Day Celebration at Community Park in Channahon on July 4. The fun starts at 6pm with a Children's Freedom Parade, face painting, inflatables, games and activities. There will be a concert starting at 7:30pm and fireworks will be at 9:15pm.
  • Pre-4th of July Celebration at Bicentennial Park in Joliet on July 3. There will be a free fest along the waterway from 5pm to 10:30pm with music on two stages starting at 7:30pm. The fireworks are scheduled for 9:30pm.
  • City of Morris Fireworks Extravaganza: July 3 at the Grundy County Fairgrounds at 9:30pm. Part of the Grundy County Fair. There will be a free grandstand show with "Cook and Belle" beginning at 7:30pm.
  • Patriotic Picnic and Fireworks Display: July 5 at Plainfield Central High School from 5pm to 9:30pm. The event will include food, music, Touch a Truck, family relay races, inflatables, a sidewalk art contest, a bucket brigade, and police and fire dog demonstrations. Fireworks will be at dusk.
