What's Happening in Your Community?
  • Adults Only Skating Party: At Skateland Recreation Center on March 29 from 7pm to 10pm. Admission is $5 plus the cost of skate rental and concessions.
  • Community Showcase: Come and see us at the 19th Annual Community Showcase presented by the Greater Channahon-Minooka Chamber of Commerce on March 30 from 11am to 2pm at the Minooka Community High School.
  • A Night of Entertainment: Saturday April 5 at 6:30pm at the Minooka Community High School. Hosted by the Minooka Community High School Choral Students, entertainment from the Choral Students, the MCHS Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz groups as well as a Deluxe Dessert Buffet. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 seniors and students, under 5 free.
  • Candlelight Bowl: April 12 at Joliet Town and Country Lanes sponsored by the Special Recreation of Joliet and Channahon Parent's Association. Tickets are $25 and include appetizers, pizza and bowling. Participants must be 21 or over. For tickets and more information call 815-741-7275 ext 175 or 169.

Easter Weekend Hours

Reminder, we will be closed on Good Friday, March 21 and Easter Sunday March 23. We will be open our normal hours on Saturday March 22: 10am-5pm (Main), 10am-3pm (Branch). There will be no lapsits or story hours on March 25-26.

Story Hours and Lapsits

We will be having an Easter Egg Hunt during our normal story hour times on March 11 and March 12.
There will be no story hours or lapsits on March 18-19 or March 25-26, story hours and lapsits will resume on April 1.

Daylight Savings Time

Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 9, don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night!

What's Happening in Your Community?
  • Dog Days at Skateland: Bring your dog for a run inside at Skateland. All dogs must be current on shots. Upcoming dog days are March 13 and March 20: Dogs under 35 pounds are allowed from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, larger dogs from 7:40pm to 8:40pm.
  • Fish Fry: Fridays from 4pm to 7pm from Feb 8 to March 14 at the St. Ann Parish Hall in Channahon, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
  • Antiques Fair: March 7 from 9:30am to 7pm and March 8 from 9:30am to 4pm at the Channahon United Methodist Church. $2 donation includes appraisal of one item. Bake sale both days. Corned beef dinner from 7pm to 9pm on March 7, cost is $9.
  • MCHS Band Boosters Craft Fair and Bake Sale: March 8 from 9am to 3pm at Minooka Community High School. Over 100 crafters will be on site selling their handmade items. Several nationally recognized vendors will also offer products for sale. Admission for the event is $1 for adults and children are free. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, and attendees can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the many product assortments available. Concessions will be available for food and refreshments and our “Kid's Korner” will offer fun activities for the younger crowd. All proceeds from this event help fund the annual Summer Band Camp. If you are a crafter or vendor and interested in space at the Craft Fair, or are willing to volunteer your time before or during the event, leave your information on the Band Boosters voice mail at 815.467.2140, ext. 266, or send an email to MCHS.craft.fair@comcast.net.
  • Scalloped Potato Dinner: March 8 from 4pm to 7pm at the Elwood Community Church. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $3.50 for children 3-12.
  • CPR for Family and Friends: March 8 at 9am at the Channahon Fire Department, free 4 hour class for lay rescuers. See site for registration, offered jointly by the Channahon and Minooka Fire Departments.
  • Matinee Production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella: Especially for senior citizens starting at 10:30am on March 12 at the Minooka Community High School. This event includes a light brunch. The event is free but reservations are required, contact Dave DiLorenzo at 467-2140 ext 179 no later than Friday, March 7.
  • Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella: March 13-15 at 7pm at the Minooka Community High School. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children and senior citizens. Call 815-467-2140 ext 101 for ticket information.
  • Easter Egg Hunt: March 15 from 2 to 4pm at the Heritage Crossing Field House. Free event, bring a basket to collect eggs. There will be an Easter Egg hunt, games, face painting and visits with the Easter Bunny (there is a fee for photos).
