What's Happening in Your Community?
- Dog Days at Skateland: Bring your dog for a run inside at Skateland. All dogs must be current on shots. Upcoming dog days are February 21, March 13 and March 20: Dogs under 35 pounds are allowed from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, larger dogs from 7:40pm to 8:40pm.
- Fish Fry: Fridays from 4pm to 7pm from Feb 8 to March 14 at the St. Ann Parish Hall in Channahon, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
- Senior Citizen's Dance: Saturday March 1 at 6pm at the Minooka Community High School Cafetorium presented by the National Honor Society. The event includes dancing, entertainment, door prizes and refreshments. Free to anyone 55 or over, must RSVP by Feb 27 by calling Donna Engel at 815-467-2140 ext 164.
- Mother/Son Masquerade Ball: March 6 from 6pm-8pm at Skateland Recreation Center. A costume party for little boys ages 3 to 10 with an adult. Enjoy food, music, games and more! Registration deadline is March 1, see site for cost.
- MCHS Band Boosters Craft Fair and Bake Sale: March 8 from 9am to 3pm at Minooka Community High School. Over 100 crafters will be on site selling their handmade items. Several nationally recognized vendors will also offer products for sale. Admission for the event is $1 for adults and children are free. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, and attendees can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the many product assortments available. Concessions will be available for food and refreshments and our “Kid's Korner” will offer fun activities for the younger crowd. All proceeds from this event help fund the annual Summer Band Camp. If you are a crafter or vendor and interested in space at the Craft Fair, or are willing to volunteer your time before or during the event, leave your information on the Band Boosters voice mail at 815.467.2140, ext. 266, or send an email to MCHS.craft.fair@comcast.net.
- CPR for Family and Friends: March 8 at 9am at the Channahon Fire Department, free 4 hour class for lay rescuers. See site for registration, offered jointly by the Channahon and Minooka Fire Departments.
- Matinee Production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella: Especially for senior citizens starting at 10:30am on March 12 at the Minooka Community High School. This event includes a light brunch. The event is free but reservations are required, contact Dave DiLorenzo at 467-2140 ext 179 no later than Friday, March 7.
