Minooka Branch Closing
Our Minooka Branch will be closed on Thursday, October 4 due to the demolition of the Blue Water Tower located just south of the building. Wabena will be closed from the north side of Mondamin Street to the South side of St. Mary's Street including any entrance to the parking lot or driveway book drop. There is a book drop on the north side of the building near the back door if needed. All DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks checked out at the Minooka Branch that are due on October 4 will be given a one day grace period and are now due on Friday October 5 (hours are 1pm to 5pm). Or you can return them to the Main Library or any area library.
The Main Library will be open providing full service from 9am to 9pm. Thank you for your understanding!

What's Happening in Your Community?
  • Fall Fantasy Garden Walk and Silent Auction: September 16 from 1pm to 5:30pm at the Children's Garden in Elwood. For more information contact Sharon at 815-423-6737.
  • 10 Cent Sale: September 17 from 6 to 8pm at the Channahon United Methodist Church's Ladies Aid Thrift Shop. All used items 10 cents.
  • Book Fair: September 17-21 at the Arrowhead Community Center in Channahon.
  • Adults Only Skating Party: Grown-ups come to Skateland Recreation Center on September 22 from 7 to 10pm and enjoy a night out. Cost is $5 plus skate rental.
  • Channooka CROP Walk: September 23 at 1pm starting at the Minooka United Methodist Church.
  • Worldwide Day of Play: September 29 from 2pm to 4pm at Community Park in Channahon, come try out lots of free activities!
  • Grundy County Corn Festival: September 26 to 30 in Morris. See site for details.
  • Minooka Community High School Homecoming Game: September 28 at 7pm.
  • Dollinger Pumpkin Farm: The Dollinger Pumpkin farm opens September 29 offering pumpkins, train rides, corn maze, hayrides, a petting zoo, playground and more.
  • Hayride/Campfire: October 5 from 6:30pm to 9pm at the Community Park in Channahon, enjoy a free campfire, haunted walk and hayrides.
  • Hammer Dulcimer Presentation: Diane Ippel provides free entertainment at the Dollinger Pumpkin Farm at 2pm on October 6.
  • Big Run Wolf Ranch: Sunday, October 7 at 2pm at the Dollinger Pumpkin Farm, meet a live wolf and learn about their lives. Free.
  • Magic of Terry Murphy: Come be amazed on Monday, October 8 at the Dollinger Pumpkin Farm at 2pm. Free.

Through the Gale Virtual Reference Library, you can do research using respected reference resources from names you trust. The e-book versions of the reference books are page by page reproductions, so you can cite them just as if you were in the library. But now, you can do research on your schedule, even in the middle of the night!
