What's Happening in Our Community?

  • Dog Days at Skateland: Bring your canine pal to Skateland on the following dates to run off some steam! All dogs must be current on their rabies vaccines and owners are responsible for their pets and cleaning up after them. The dates are March 1, March 15 and April 1. Cost is $2. Dogs under 30 pounds are allowed from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and bigger dogs from 7:45pm to 8:45pm.
  • Chicago Bulls 2Ball Competition: For ages 9-18. On March 2 at the Heritage Crossing Field House starting at 6pm. The event is free but you must pre-register in teams of 2.
  • Mother/Son Masquerade Ball: Presented by the Channahon Park District on March 8 from 6:30-8:30pm at Skateland Recreation Center. For boys ages 3-10 with an adult. There will be food, music and games, costumes are optional. Fee is $17 per couple for park district residents, $20 per couple for non-residents, $9 for additional child. Must pre-register by March 1.
  • The Wizard of Oz: The Minooka Community High School is performing the Wizard of Oz from March 15-17 at 7pm.
  • St Patrick's Day Party/St Baldrick's Event sponsored by the Channahon Fire Department. March 17 from 6pm-Midnight at the Skateland Recreation Center. Live music, dancing, food and drinks. See site for more information.
  • Greater Channahon-Minooka Area Community Showcase: Sponsored by the Greater Channahon-Minooka Area Chamber of Commerce on March 18 from 11am-2pm at the Minooka Community High School. Look for the Three Rivers Public Library booth!
  • Easter Egg-travaganza: Presented by the Channahon Park District on March 31 from 2-4pm at the Heritage Crossing Field House. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, games, face painting and photos with the Easter Bunny for ages 3-10. This event is free, photos with the bunny cost $1 (free if you bring your own camera).
  • Pet Pictures with the Easter Bunny: Bring your pet to the Heritage Crossing Field House on March 31 between 4pm and 5pm to have their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny! Photos cost $4.

Downloadable Video Free from the Library!
We have a brand new service: MyLibraryDV, a unique downloadable video on demand service from Recorded Books. MyLibraryDV offers hundreds of hours of programming: cooking shows (such as Julia Child's Kitchen Wisdom and Lidia's Italian Kitchen), How To Shows (Like Today's Homeowner and Antiques Roadshow), Travel Shows (such as Globe Trekker and Rick Steves), Health Shows (such as Health Choices), Literary Shows (such as CSPAN's Author Talk) and classic Hollywood Movies (like The Angel and the Badman and Royal Wedding). You can download up to 10 programs at a time and keep them for a week and they're all free to Three Rivers Public Library district card holders. You will need a broadband connection and you will be asked to download the MyLibraryDV viewer to access the downloads (you will also need your library card to download). Books on Cassette Sale at Main Library
We're weeding our books on cassette section in order to make room for more books on CD. Therefore, we have a large selection of used cassette audiobooks on sale for rock bottom prices. Prices start at 25 cents! Books are priced by number of cassettes (25 cents per cassette) and originally retailed for 25 dollars or (lots) more! So come on over to the Main Library to take advantage of these!

What's happening in your community?

  • Dog Days at Skateland: Bring your canine pal to Skateland on the following dates to run off some steam!   • A Night of Entertainment presented by the Minooka High School Choir Boosters and Choral Students on Saturday February 3 at 6:30pm in the MCHS Cafetorium. Includes a dessert buffett and beverages. Tickets are $10 adults, $7 students/seniors, children under 5 are free. Tickets can be bought in advance from any choral student or by calling Sue at 521-1186 or can be purchased at the door.
  • Musica Viva: Dr. David Gresham (clarinet) and Momoko Gresham (piano) will perform the music of Penderecki, Elter, Schumann, Lasser and Benjamin as part of Musica Viva, Joliet Junior College's guest artist recital series on Sunday, February 4 at 3pm at the Fine Arts Theatre. Admission is free.
  • Cinderella's Ball: February 8 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Skateland Recreation Center. For girls ages 3 to 10 years with an adult. Dress in your finest attire and step out for a night fit for a princess. There will be a buffet dinner, dancing and more. Channahon Park District residents $17 per couple/non-res $20 per couple. Registration deadline is February 2.
  • PTO Craft Night: February 9 at N.B. Galloway
  • MCHS Band Booster Valentine Dinner Dance & Auction: February 10 at 6pm at the St. George's Social Hall in Joliet. Tickets are $40 a person, reservations are required, deadline is February 4. To order tickets and reserve seats please contact Lynda at 467-5724 or Nancy at 744-3003
  • Frosty 5 Mile: February 11 at 1pm starting at Pioneer Path School. The Channahon Park District sponsors this race for all ages. The first 250 runners will receive an official knit stocking cap. There will be snacks and rewards after the race. All runners will receive an official race card with their times. Registration ahead of time is $15 residents/$18 non-residents, $20 for all day of race.
