Lapsits Are Back!
Our popular lapsits for children up to 3 years of age will return on January 16. Introduce your child to books through stories, music and exploration. We will have two lapsits a week: Tuesdays at the Branch at 10am and Wednesdays at the Main Library at 10am.

Our preschool story hours are also on holiday break. They will begin once more on January 16 and 17. These are on Tuesdays at the Branch at 10am and 1pm and Wednesdays at the Main Library at 10am and 1pm.

What's Happening in Our Community?
  • Toys for Tots Collection is ongoing at the Minooka Fire Protection District Minooka Station #1.
  • Pancake Breakfast with Santa: Sunday, December 10 from 8am to Noon at Minooka Station #1. Cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children, all you can eat!
  • Judging for the Channahon Annual Outdoor Home Decorating Contest is Sunday, December 10. To be put on the judging list call 467-6644.
  • Minooka Community High School Band Winter Concert: On Tuesday, December 12 at 7pm in the Performing Arts Center. This is free and open to the public for more information, please contact the MCHS Main Office at 467-2140, ext 100.
  • Create a Chocolate Design Class: The Minooka Community High School is hosting a holiday cooking class for adults on December 13 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the MCHS Food Lab. Cost is $25 and participants will create a holiday themed chocolate scene to take home and enjoy. Registration deadline for this class is December 11. To register or for more information contact Darlene Etta at 467-2140, ext 114.
  • Santa's Skating Party: December 16 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Skateland Recreation Center. Enjoy skating, games and a visit from Santa. All children 10 and under must be accompanied by a parent. Pre-registration is $5 for Park District Residents/$7 non. Registration on the day of is $9 for all.
  • Kidz in the Kitchen Cooking Class: The Minooka Community High School is hosting a holiday cooking class for kids ages 8 to 12 on December 16 from 10am to 1pm at the MCHS Food Lab. Cost is $25 and participants will create cookie and hot chocolate gift jars and bake holiday cookies. Registration deadline for this class is December 14. To register or for more information contact Darlene Etta at 467-2140, ext 114.
  • New Year's Eve All Nighter: December 31 at the Skateland Recreation Center starting at 6pm and ending at 7am the next day. Enjoy a completely supervised New Year's Eve celebration, skating, games and moves. Fee includes admission, skate rental and breakfast. Bring extra money for concessions. Pre registration is $17 for residents/$20 for non. Admission day of is $22 for all.
